Truly Engage with The Arts at Supercrawl 2016
Hamilton, ON - August 18, 2016 - There is no better way to understand Hamilton’s incredible arts story than to experience it first-hand at Supercrawl 2016. This year, for the first time, visitors can get up close and personal with the Hamilton arts community by engaging in a number of free and ticketed events taking place on Saturday, September 10 and Sunday, September 11.
Free events
- Guided Walking Tours of James Street North from multiple perspectives
- Artist demonstrations designed to provide a ‘taste’ of various art disciplines
Ticketed events
- Historic Walking Tour: In George Hamilton’s Footsteps (includes lunch)
- Artist-led, hands-on workshops that immerse participants in the art of creating, take your creation and memories home with you.
- The walking tours, demonstrations and workshops will be presented at various locations:
- Visitor Information Centre, Lister Building, 28 James Street North
- AGH Design Annex, 118 James Street North
- Centre3, 173 James Street North
- 126 James Street North
These events were developed in partnership with Centre3 for Media Arts and the Art Gallery of Hamilton.

Product Development Project
In the fall of 2015, Tourism Hamilton collaborated with Supercrawl in a joint promotional campaign to increase public engagement at the event, and to pilot a Product Development Project focusing on The Arts sector. Further partnership was secured with the Ontario Tourism Marketing Partnership Corporation in the form of matching funding.
The product development undertaking to launch arts-based experiential offerings fulfils multiple priorities outlined in the City of Hamilton Tourism Strategy:
- Product sector priority – Arts, Culture and Entertainment
- Geographic development priority – James Street corridor
- Product development priority – The Arts
- Target market – Connected Explorers
