Labour Day Weekend: What's Open & Closed
All City of Hamilton administrative offices will be closed on Monday, September 7, 2026.
Some City services will also be closed or have adjusted hours.
For city emergencies involving roads, noise, watermains, sewer systems, animal emergencies or health and safety issues (such as spills, outbreaks, rabies exposure or water hazards), call 905-546-2489 (CITY).
The my.hamilton.ca portal provides residents with a single, secure place to access a growing number of City services online from any device – anytime, anywhere.
Service Closures

- Accessible Transportation Services (ATS) Customer Service Office
- HSR Customer Service at 36 Hunter St. East
- Phone service is available daily, including holidays, from 7:30 am to 8 pm by calling 905-546-2489.
- Enforcement Services
- Hamilton Municipal Parking System Office
- No enforcement from September 6 at 10 p.m. until September 7 at 10 pm.
- Regular parking enforcement will resume September 7 at 10 pm.
- Proactive enforcement may occur for special events and areas of interest.

Service Adjustments
Hamilton Street Railway (HSR)
- Operating on a Sunday schedule.
- Last downtown departure at approximately midnight.
- No service on routes 12 Wentworth and 42 Mohawk East.
- MyRide in Waterdown and Trans-Cab will operate on a Sunday schedule.
DARTS
- Holiday service hours in effect.
- All subscription trips cancelled, except dialysis.
- Book in advance if travel is needed on September 7.
Waste Collection
- No waste collection (garbage, blue box, green bin, yard waste or bulk garbage) on September 7.
- Collection will occur one day later for the rest of the week.
- Waste must be at the curb by 7 am on your collection day. To find your collection day, please visit: hamilton.ca/Waste
- Transfer Stations and Community Recycling Centres will be closed on Monday, September 7, 2026.
