Huntington Park Recreation Centre Officially Reopens
HAMILTON, ON — The City of Hamilton is pleased to announce the official reopening of the newly renovated Huntington Park Recreation Centre, following a major renewal project. With enhanced amenities and upgrades designed to improve the community experience, the revitalized facility is now ready to welcome residents back.
Recreation Centre enhancements
Community members will notice a number of improvements designed to refresh the facility and enhance its amenities. Key enhancements include:
- New pool waterslide for added aquatic fun;
- Renovated the leisure pool and teaching tank with new, durable tile finishes and fittings;
- Replaced and upgraded pool filtration systems to improve water quality;
- Fully renewed changerooms, including new tiles, paint and upgraded partitions;
- Enhanced lighting and painting refresh throughout the facility;
- Exterior painting of the entire facility; and
- Improved exterior walkways with necessary repairs for safety and accessibility.
“Huntington Park Recreation Centre is an important part of this community, a place where residents of all ages can stay active, connect with neighbours and spend time together,” said Mayor Andrea Horwath. “With these upgrades, Hamiltonians now have access to a refreshed, modern space, from improved pool facilities and changerooms to a new waterslide that families will enjoy. I want to thank residents for their patience during the closure — this investment ensures the centre will continue to serve the community and support healthy, active lifestyles for years to come.”
To thank the community for its support during the closure period, drop-in programs scheduled between March 24 and April 5 will be offered free of charge. Drop-in schedules are available online at www.hamilton.ca/dropin.

Community invited to reopening celebration — March 28, 2026
Residents are invited to the reopening celebration on March 28, 2026, from 12 noon to 4 pm. The ribbon-cutting ceremony will begin at 1:30 pm.
The family-friendly activities offered free during the event include:
- Gym activities, with organized games, followed by Family Gym;
- Crafts, science, and fitness offerings with interactive Try-It teasers in our revitalized club rooms;
- Facility exploration activity for a chance to win a Family Participation Pass;
- Ceremonial waterslide ribbon cutting with Ward 6 Councillor Tom Jackson;
- Open Swims including access to try the new waterslide.

- The recreation centre closed for renovations on March 17, 2025.
- As part of the recently adopted 2026 Budget, the City will continue investments in parks and recreation amenities to support healthy, active lifestyles and vibrant neighbourhoods across Hamilton. These investments include recreation facility design of the planned Waterdown Pool and Recreation Centre ($4.5 million), upgrades to the Victoria Park Outdoor Pool ($750,000) and Chedoke Twin Pad renewal ($700,000).
