The City has initiated a Class EA study to determine the preferred solution for the Ainslie Wood Neighbourhood Creek Separation from the Municipal Combined Sewer System.
The purpose of this Class EA study is to identify various alternative solutions to address the separation of the Chedoke Creek flow from the combined sewer system, and to ultimately recommend a preferred solution based on evaluation of all examined alternatives. Currently, instead of continuing flowing to Chedoke Creek, stormwater runoff from areas upstream of the Ainslie Wood neighbourhood is entering the City’s combined sewer system at multiple locations within the neighbourhood. Separation of stormwater flows (carried by the Creek) from the combined sewer system will reduce combined sewer overflows during significant rainfall events and lessen impacts to the City’s existing wastewater treatment infrastructure and municipal sewer system.
