Fraud Alert! Application Invoice Scam
The City of Hamilton is aware of a fraudulent email address, [email protected], being used to impersonate Planning and Economic Development (PED) staff and send fraudulent application fee invoices to external applicants, consultants, and vendors.
This email address is not associated with the City of Hamilton. Official communications are sent from @hamilton.ca or @pplb.hamilton.ca email addresses only.
If you an external applicant, consultant or vendor, using the City’s Permitting, Planning, Licensing and Bylaw portal communications will be sent from [email protected].
The City will never request payments, deposits, banking information, passwords, verification codes, or other sensitive information through personal, unofficial, or non-City email accounts.
If you believe you have received a fraudulent email or message, you can report it to the Canadian Anti-Fraud Centre | antifraudcentre-centreantifraude.ca to help authorities track and prevent scams and follow any additional guidance on that site.
