Grand opening of the Waterdown Rotary Memorial Park Skating Loop
Hamilton, ON – July 6, 2016 – Media are invited to attend the Grand Opening of the Waterdown Rotary Memorial Park Skating Loop on Saturday, July 9. The celebration will include a ribbon cutting ceremony with a barbeque to follow. A partnership project between the Rotary Club of Waterdown and the City of Hamilton, the new skating loop enhances Waterdown Memorial Park and will allow residents to enjoy the park throughout the year.
Skating loop features
- Path measures 230 metres long and is surrounded by trees
- Provides a variety of skating areas to accommodate beginners to advanced participants
- During the winter, the path serves as the only state of the art ice loop in Hamilton
- During the fall, spring and summer, the path can be used for walking, roller skating, cycling or simply as a paved surface for a variety of activities
- New park amenities include a skate change area, washrooms, zamboni room, refrigeration room, staff office and baseball storage.
Construction of the path started in the fall of 2015. The Rotary Club of Waterdown has committed $1.0 million to the project. The remainder of the project will be funded by the City of Hamilton.

Ribbon cutting ceremony starts at 12 noon with Councillor Judi Partridge and members of the Rotary Club of Waterdown. The Rotary Club of Waterdown will present a cheque to the City.
