Stoney Creek Mountain Home Damaged in Evening Fire
HAMILTON, ON – July 19, 2016 – The Hamilton Fire Department responded to a structure fire at 206 5th Road East, Stoney Creek, a detached dwelling, at approximately 9:23 pm this evening.
Upon arrival, firefighters confirmed a working fire at the rear of the home. Crews did an excellent job through an aggressive attack to bring of the fire under control shortly after their arrival. Fire-fighters found one occupant on scene with injuries who was placed in the care of Hamilton Paramedics for transport to Juravinski Hospital.
A number of water tankers were brought to the scene to provide a continuous water supply for firefighting operations. There is no damage estimate at this time but the home did sustain heavy damage. The fire cause is under investigation by the Office of the Fire Marshal.
Two firefighters were injured and treated at the scene for minor injuries by EMS.
