Dewitt Road and Highway 8 intersection closure
HAMILTON, ON – Beginning Tuesday, September 5, the City of Hamilton will close the intersection at Dewitt Road and Highway 8 to complete underground sewer updates and associated work.
The first phase of the project will require a full closure of the intersection for approximately one month due to the depth and size of the underground sewer infrastructure being installed. Following the installation, one lane in each direction will be re-opened to facilitate traffic flow while the intersection is completed.
The planned work includes:
- Sanitary sewer upgrades
- Road restoration
- Road and sidewalk reconstruction
- Road resurfacing
- Curb and boulevard replacement
- Associated work
During the full closure, motorists should detour using Millen and Fruitland Roads.
HSR Route 55 Stoney Creek Central will detour in both directions between Fruitland and Millen Roads, with some stops out of service. Route 55 customers may experience minor delays. Route 55A is not affected. Details are available at Hamilton.ca/hsrdetours.
The City of Hamilton thanks motorists, pedestrians and cyclists for their patience as we complete these important infrastructure repairs.
