Early morning fire severely damages townhouse unit
HAMILTON, ON – July 1, 2016 – Fire crews responded at 4:11 am to a multi-unit, residential attached townhouse located at 77 Tindale Crt. for a reported fire in unit 7. Upon arrival firefighters found the unit to be well involved with a fire on the first floor venting out the rear windows and extending to the second floor. The occupants of the home were out at the time of the fire and this was confirmed by search and rescue operations by firefighters.
Firefighters worked quickly with an aggressive interior attack and were able to effect a successful knockdown and extinguishment of the fire on all floor levels with minimal fire spread to the adjacent units.
Damage to the unit 7 is estimated at $150,000 in total and is uninhabitable at this time. The units on either side also sustained some smoke and fire damage with estimates at $25,000 to each unit. There were no injuries reported and the cause of the fire is undetermined at this time
