West Mountain home damaged in evening fire
HAMILTON, ON – July 4, 2016 – The Hamilton Fire Department responded to a report of a structure fire at 20 Gillard Street, Hamilton, which is a semi-detached dwelling, at approximately 8:53 pm this evening.
Upon arrival, firefighters confirmed a working fire at the rear of the home with smoke showing at the roof area. An aggressive interior attack of the fire by fire-fighters found one of the homes occupants who was removed to the exterior and immediately placed in the care of Hamilton Paramedics.
Firefighters contained the fire basically to the rear of this unit, but there is no damage estimate at this time. The Office of the Fire Marshal has been contacted to determine a fire cause.
One firefighter was also treated at the scene for heat exhaustion by Paramedics..
