City of Hamilton is looking for this year’s Christmas trees

HAMILTON, ON – Have a blue spruce tree that has grown too tall for its space? It could have one more holiday season to shine. 

The City of Hamilton is looking for large blue spruce trees on private properties to become centrepieces of the holiday season at Gore Park, City Hall and Memorial Square in Dundas. 

To be considered, trees must be: 

• at least 25 to 40 feet (12 metres) tall
• located in a front yard and accessible from the street
• clear of overhead wires

Selected trees will be cut down and transported at no cost to the property owner. 

For residents who are already planning to remove a blue spruce tree because of construction, tree health or other property needs, donating it to the City allows the tree to become part of Hamilton’s holiday celebrations. Residents can also take advantage of the City’s tree planting program to help maintain and grow Hamilton’s tree canopy.
