The City of Hamilton is undertaking a study to plan for Glancaster Road improvements, between Garner Road East / Rymal Road West and Dickenson Road West.
In 2020, the City completed the design for a new bus maintenance and storage facility (MSF) at 281 Birch Avenue. The purpose of the project is to increase the Transit Division’s maintenance and storage capacity to accommodate its existing and growing fleet as the City continues to improve transit service. This new facility represents a significant investment in Hamilton and supports the City’s ongoing commitment to transit expansion, as outlined in the Ten-Year Local Transit Strategy.
The City initiated the Class EA process for Highway 8 Improvements from Dewitt Road to Fifty Road. Based on previously completed studies, it was identified that improvements would be required within the corridor to address roadway capacity, transit, active transportation and goods movement as a result of the future growth within the Fruitland-Winona Secondary Plan area.
The City has initiated the Class EA process to address the needs of drivers, cyclists and pedestrians on Regional Road 56 from Dalgleish Trail to Cemetery Road. The study will investigate viable options for upgrading Regional Road 56 to accommodate current and future projected growth.
Based on the preliminary results of the Highway 56 Traffic Study, it was identified that a Municipal Class Environmental Assessment would be required to implement the study recommendations. As such, the Traffic Study concluded in 2018 and this EA was initiated.
The City initiated a Class EA process to facilitate bridge rehabilitation works on Bridge #248 on King Street West in Dundas.
Preferred Alternative Solution: Alternative 3 - Replace bridge at existing location, which will have a configuration similar to that of the existing structure and will include active transportation facilities.
The City initiated a Class EA process for potable water supply to the Lynden Rural Settlement Area (RSA). The Environmental Study Report (ESR) has been prepared to confirm that the proposed new backup well, pumping station and reservoir project meets the requirements of the EAA. Consideration of potential impacts and recommended mitigation measures was included as part of the evaluation of the preferred solution.
