City of Hamilton’s Fire Department names new Deputy Fire Chief, Operations
Hamilton, ON - October 5, 2016 - The City of Hamilton’s Fire Department has announced that Assistant Deputy Chief Randy Moss has been selected for the position of Deputy Fire Chief, Operations, and will take on the role effective Monday October 10, 2016.
“A long serving member of the Hamilton Fire Department for over 31 years, Assistant Deputy Chief Moss has distinguished himself as a dedicated, competent, knowledgeable, caring individual, who has always made the needs of the people whom he works with, along with the citizens he has served, his first priority,” said Hamilton Fire Chief David Cunliffe, who took on the role of Chief in June.
Rising through the ranks, Moss has held many positions including Firefighter, Lieutenant, Captain, Acting District Chief, Hazmat Co-ordinator, and, most recently, Assistant Deputy Chief.
Moss has completed various courses and programs at the Ontario Fire College, Michigan State Police Academy, Lambton College, Mohawk College, and Humber College, and most recently completed a certificate in Fire Service Leadership (Honours Standing) from Dalhousie University.
In addition to his firefighting experience and academic studies, Moss brings to his new role an effective team building style and a genuine interest in the health and well-being of residents, staff and the Hamilton community.
Moss joins Bill Pittman, Deputy Chief, Operational Support and Community Safety, rounding out Hamilton Fire's senior administration.
