City releases official results for the 2026 municipal election

HAMILTON, ON – The City Clerk has certified the results of Hamilton’s 2026 municipal election. The official results are available at www.hamilton.ca/Elections.

More than 110,000 voters cast their ballots on election day at 106 voting locations across Hamilton’s 15 wards. Combined with advance voting, a total of 147,299 ballots were cast, representing 31.61 per cent of Hamilton’s eligible voting population, compared with 35.38 per cent in the 2022 municipal election.

As part of the certification process, the City confirmed the final results and identified 103 ballots from five community polls that were not captured in the unofficial results released on election night. These ballots have been included in the certified results and did not change the outcome of any races.

This was Hamilton’s most accessible municipal election to date, offering four full weeks of advance voting opportunities, along with targeted outreach and education in underrepresented and equity-deserving communities.

“With the results now certified, I want to congratulate everyone elected to serve our community and thank all of the candidates who put their names forward. The participation of voters and candidates is what makes local democracy work,” said City Clerk Matthew Trennum.
