Nashville Predators’ Ryan Ellis Funds New Play Structure at Andrew Warburton Memorial Park
Hamilton, ON – August 15, 2016 – Ryan Ellis of the Nashville Predators joined Mayor Eisenberger and other special guests to celebrate the formal grand opening of the new playground equipment at Andrew Warburton Memorial Park on Saturday.
Ellis, who grew up in nearby Freelton, raised funds for the project through his Elly4Kids Foundation and a charity golf tournament held on June 27, 2016 at the Beverly Golf and Country Club in Copetown. The park has been cleaned up and a new play structure has been erected for neighbourhood children to have a fun and safe place to play.
“This is a way for me to extend my heartfelt appreciation to the people of Hamilton for the support I received throughout my youth while I was developing into a professional hockey player,” said Ellis. “My successes are a result of the support of many friends, family and the greater-Hamilton community at large. I would like to see every kid have the same opportunities I was given while growing up.”
"This kind of neighbourhood renewal brings so many benefits to our community and we're grateful Ryan Ellis has chosen to raise funds for the park," said Mayor Eisenberger. "Providing a place for children to gather, play and connect feeds young minds and energizes growth."
The City of Hamilton thanks Ryan Ellis and friends for their partnership and support in improving Hamilton’s playgrounds.
