Dan McKinnon Announced as General Manager of Public Works
Hamilton, ON - August 12, 2016 - The City of Hamilton is pleased to announce that Dan McKinnon is the new General Manager of Public Works.
A Hamilton native and City-employee for more than 20 years, McKinnon’s commitment to the organization, the community and its people make him an ideal choice for this position.
McKinnon started his career with the City in 1994 as a construction technician. Over the years he has served in several positions in Public Works, each with increased responsibility. In his most recent role as Director of Hamilton Water, McKinnon led the delivery of several high-profile projects and worked to improve the day-to-day water and wastewater operations that are essential to the community.
“As Hamilton continues to evolve and grow, we need to continue to evolve the services we deliver and we need a visionary leader with the technical expertise necessary to take us into the future,” said City Manager, Chris Murray. “Today I’m proud to announce that Dan McKinnon is the new General Manager of Public Works.”
“I'm honoured by the trust and confidence that both Council and the Senior Leadership Team have shown with this decision,” said McKinnon. “There is no doubt in my mind that the performance of the Hamilton Water team over the last five years was key to supporting me through this process, so much of the credit for my success goes to them. Being born and raised in Hamilton, I'm very proud today and intend to build on the momentum that Gerry Davis has created with respect to emphasizing customer service and a culture of continuous improvement.”
The City would also like to thank John Mater for his efforts as Acting General Manager of Public Works since March 2016.
