Local activities and events to celebrate and recognize seniors in the community
Hamilton, ON – May 24, 2016 – To commemorate Seniors Month, there will be variety of activities and events during the month of June to celebrate and recognize seniors in the community.
The public is invited to attend the Seniors Month kick-off event taking place on Monday, May 30 at Sarcoa Restaurant located at 57 Discovery Drive from 10 am to 2 pm. This free event offers refreshments, workshops, demonstrations, exhibits, prizes and live entertainment.
Parking at Sarcoa is free. Transportation provided by the Ministry of Transportation and City of Hamilton Age Friendly Initiative. To reserve a spot on a bus, please call 905-777-3837 ext. 12434. Free transportation for the event is provided for DARTS Clients, however, must be reserved seven days in advance. For reservations, call 905-529-1717 ext. 0.
The kick-off event is being hosted by The Older Adult Network of Hamilton in partnership with the Older Adult Centres’ Association of Ontario (OACAO) and sponsored by the Ontario Seniors’ Secretariat.
In addition to the kick-off event at Sarcoa, there will be a variety of events during the month of June in honour of Seniors Month, including yoga classes, cooking workshops, Annual Strawberry Social, 21st Annual Seniors Awards, bingo and much more.
