Red Hill Valley Parkway closure rescheduled to September 24 to 28
HAMILTON, ON – The Red Hill Valley Parkway (RHVP) closure originally scheduled for September 17 to 21 has been rescheduled due to forecasted weather conditions. The RHVP will now be closed in both directions between Mud Street and Barton Street from 10 pm on Thursday, September 24 until 5 am on Monday, September 28, weather permitting.
The closure will allow crews to complete roadway rehabilitation, safety improvements and general infrastructure maintenance.
What residents can expect
- Full closure of the RHVP between Mud Street and Barton Street in both directions.
- Closure in effect from 10 p.m. on September 24 until 5 a.m. on September 28, weather permitting.
- Signed detour routes will be in place.
- HSR service will detour during the closure.
- Motorists should plan ahead and expect increased traffic on surrounding roads.
Improving safety, supporting communities
The City recognizes the closure will affect commuters and commercial traffic on the RHVP. The work has been scheduled over a single extended weekend so multiple City crews and contractors can complete rehabilitation and maintenance activities during the same closure.
During the closure, crews will complete work equivalent to multiple daily and overnight lane closures, reducing the need for repeated disruptions while addressing multiple maintenance and safety needs.
Residents are encouraged to plan ahead, use alternate routes during this time and expect delays and increased traffic on surrounding roads. Motorists are reminded to follow posted detour signs and take extra caution in construction zones.
