Schedules & Detours

Routes 4 Bayfront, 7 Locke, 8 York & 9 Rock Gardens will experience delays due to construction on York Boulevard/Cannon Street West. Construction tentatively scheduled from July to December in 2024 and April to August in 2025. Please allow extra time when using these Routes when moving around & through downtown Hamilton.

Both an east-west and a north-south route servicing the north end of the city from downtown to the Greenhill area near Red Hill Valley.

Detour Details:

Route 4 Bayfront:

• Westbound: From James St. at Strachan St., left on Strachan St., right on John St., right on Barton St., left on James St., then resume regular route south of Barton St.

Route 20 A Line:

• Northbound: From James St. at Cannon St., left on Cannon St., right on MacNab St., right on Murray St., left on James St., then resume regular route north of Murray St.
• Southbound: From James St. at Strachan St., left on Strachan St., right on John St., right on Barton St., left on James St., then resume regular route south of Barton St.

Out of Service Stops:

Routes 4 Bayfront & 20 A-Line

• Westbound/Southbound: JAMES St., at WEST HARBOUR GO Station

Route 20 A-Line

• Northbound:

  • JAMES opposite COLBOURNE St.

Serves east - west lower Hamilton including Dundas, Ancaster and Stoney Creek. 

Both an east-west and a north-south route servicing the south-west end of the city from then downtown. This route is interlined with 7 Locke and 8 York.

Westbound Detour

• From Hunter Street at Queen Street
• left on Queen Street
• right on Aberdeen Avenue
• left on Dundurn Street
• resume regular routing on Dundurn Street south of Aberdeen Avenue.

Eastbound Detour

• From Dundurn Street at Chatham Street
• north on Dundurn Street
• right on Main Street
• resume regular routing on Main Street east of Locke Street.

Eastbound Stops out of service

• Chatham at Locke
• Locke at Hunter
• Locke at Main

Temporary stops have been placed at the following locations:

• All regular stops along Queen and Aberdeen (Westbound) and along Main St (Eastbound) 

Both an east-west and a north-south route servicing the south-west end of the city from then downtown. This route is interlined with 6 Aberdeen and 7 Locke.

Operates from James and Main to Rock Gardens, Woodland Cemetery and Holy Sepulchre Cemetery. Along most of the Rock Gardens route, buses will stop only at designated bus stops. In Woodland and Holy Sepulchre Cemeteries, however, the bus will stop anywhere on request. Simply flag the bus driver so he/she knows to stop. The "flag zones" are indicated on the map.

Service resumes Sundays and Holidays schedule effective Sunday, May 11, 2025.

An east-west route traveling from University Plaza in the west end to Eastgate Square in the east end. This route is interlined with 55 Stoney Creek Central and 58 Stoney Creek Local.
